Before any repairs can be completed, every customer is required to complete the registration form for Repair Café Lambeth (RCL) records. All information is treated with the utmost confidence and RCL will not share your contact details with anybody else. If you choose to leave an email address, this will be added to our mailing list and you will be reminded of future RCL events. Please contact us if you wish to be removed from our distribution list at any time.

We regularly take photos of our event for marketing purposes. Should you not wish to be photographed, please inform a member of the organising team.

The repairs carried out in the RCL are performed at the visitor’s own risk.

Visitors are seen on a first-come, first-served basis - we hope they will be happy to wait a while and take the opportunity to get a tea or coffee, watch other repairs taking place and have a chat. A maximum of ONE broken item per person will be examined. The visitor will join the back of the queue if there is a second item for repair.

Visitors are expected to remain with the repairer while the repair is being carried out in order to see how the repair is being done and to pick up new skills. Items should not be left with the repairer to be collected later.

The volunteers are likely to have a small stock of spare parts, but if repairs cannot be carried out with what is on hand, then the visitor will be responsible for providing any consumables such as leads, plugs, fuses, zips, etc. that may be needed to fully complete a repair.

The fact that the repairs are being performed by unpaid volunteers reflects the allocation of risks and limitation of liability: neither the organisers of the RCL nor the repair experts in personal capacities or otherwise, are liable for any loss or injury whatsoever that may result from any repair carried out or for any advice or instructions given and used at later date. Neither the organisers of RCL, nor the repairers in personal capacities or otherwise, are liable for any accidental damage that may occur to either visitors’ goods or personal effects during visitors’ time at the sessions.

Repairers offer no guarantee for any repairs carried out with or without their help, and are not liable if any repaired items do not work properly at home or break down again in the future.

Volunteers reserve the right to not repair certain objects e.g., items they deem unsafe.

Repair experts are not obliged to reassemble disassembled appliances that cannot be repaired.

Visitors to RCL are solely responsible for the tidy removal of broken objects that couldn’t be fixed.

PLEASE NOTE: Dangerous tools and equipment are present and sometimes used in repairs. Parents must exercise control over, and be responsible for, the behaviour of their children whilst at the Lambeth Repair Café.
